Visual Arts
At St Mary of the Cross, students have a weekly Visual Arts lesson which is guided by the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. Students learn to reflect critically on their own experiences and responses to the work of artists, craftspeople and designers and develop their own artwork.
Visual Arts lessons introduce children to problem-solving techniques, which helps children to see the world in new ways. They build creative ways in expressing how they see, think and wonder as they develop curiosities. Children discover how visual arts can communicate their ideas with building skills and knowledge, children become interested in creating increasingly realistic depictions, when mastering new techniques. Giving children the opportunity to imaginative two dimensional and three- dimensional imaginative activities can lead to better skills in social interactions and emotional regulation.
