Physical Education
At St Mary of the Cross Catholic Primary School, Physical Education (PE) classes are an important part of every student's week. Through fun games, team sports and skill-building activities, students learn how to stay active, work together and take care of their health and wellbeing.
Our PE program follows the Victorian Curriculum, which focuses on helping students develop fundamental movement skills, such as running, jumping, catching and throwing. These are the building blocks for more complex physical activities and sports as they grow.
Our Years 3-6 students participate in interschool sports events and a swimming program. All students participate in a once a year Athletics Carnival.
Students learn about the importance of fair play and teamwork through PE and sporting activities. Whether they're learning a new sport or practising a familiar skill, we encourage all students to try their best and support one another.
Through regular physical activity, students not only improve their physical health, but also build confidence, cooperation skills, and a positive attitude towards lifelong fitness.
